It is with great sadness we report the passing away of Alan Downs in March. Many will remember both Alan and his wife Rosemary, who passed away nearly two years ago, as both were so generous with their time at St James Junior School. Rosemary regularly taught the girls needlework culminating in intricately stitched purses and bible covers which are still cherished by the girls and their parents.
Alan loved passing on his woodwork skills to the next generation by showing the boys and girls how to use saws, hammers and nails, helping them to create aeroplanes, space-rockets and cars. Alan and Rosemary's kind, quiet manner and gentle ways created wonderful results.
Alan’s children have said that if anyone would like to make a donation in Alan’s memory, the ethos of St James’ Schools was very close to his heart and they have asked us to set up a Just Giving page.
