St James Prep School's

Exciting Library refurbishment

"Books are the plane, and the train, and the road. They are the destination, and the journey. They are home.”

– Anna Quindlen

With the help of some talented parents we have wonderful plans for a new fresh and bright Library design. The new space will be lighter, brighter and follow a natural theme, with green carpets, blue skies and a lovely tree canopy to bring the design together. It will provide a calm and peaceful environment where the children can develop a love of books and reading.

It will also have a contemporary feel with modern pendant lights and spotlights to ensure the best reading light. The new layout and shelving will make the most of the space and allow access to all the materials available.

We now need to raise the final £10,000 so that the work can be carried out over the Summer and the New Library can be ready to open its doors in September.

If you are keen to get involved or would like your child or family’s name to be forever part of our new Library, please have a look at the donation options below. If you have any questions please email Ellie:

Our Plans

Book Shelves: For £500 you can sponsor a bookshelf to house the wonderful collection of reading material (with an optional plaque)

Leaves: for £100 your child’s name or family name can be inscribed onto one of the leaves of our beautiful tree, to be part of the Library forever.

If you would like to be involved with sponsoring the tree itself, please contact Eleanor Mello to discuss this:

In September there will also be an opportunity to buy a book for the Library so that everyone has the chance to contribute to the new Library, no matter what amount they would like to donate.
